PINCKNEY RECREATION AREA
This property stretches from the south end of Pinckney, going west then south to Lyndon Center, covering over 11,000 acres and home to over 20 lakes. The area is also home to approximately 70 miles of hiking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking trails. With the exception of some high traffic areas, most of the area is open to hunting and all the lakes are open to fishing.

We started the day at 9:00 am, and with the threat of rain, everyone got signed in and took a team photo. With this clean up event we decided to split into two teams. Bigcountry and I, LOATS, checked out the area before hand and were the team leaders. Bigcountry took his team to the Southwest extreme of the park and my team focused on Joslyn Lake Rd., Hadley Rd., and Goodband Rd. Each team unloaded the trucks twice before we wrapped things up at 1:00 pm. The task was more difficult due to the growing grass but everyone did a great job.

There were a couple of interesting finds on this trip. First, are the great specimens of Dryads Saddle fungi, I didn't know before, but I know now that these mushrooms are edible if you catch them in there infancy. The second is pictured above, an ant hill, largest one I can remember seeing, probably about 12 foot in diameter and 3-4 ft. tall. The other, pictured below, is the largest wolf spider I have ever seen, but according to Bigrackmack, his poor grandmother lived with much larger specimens. And finally, we have learned that one of our larger members has the potential to be slightly startled by a mouse, alledgedly. There is no photographic proof.
